Donna Lawlor,

Program Director
After completing her Family Medicine Residency program at MacNeal Hospital, Dr. Lawlor spent six years in a rural community along the Wisconsin and Illinois border in private practice. She completed the Faculty Development Program at Cook County Hospital during her last year of residency. Dr. Lawlor has been active in teaching since graduation from MacNeal, and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Illinois Medical School.

Davis Yang,

Dr. Yang completed his Family Medicine training at MacNeal. After residency, he joined the faculty and spent two years seeing patients at MacNeal's Kildare HealthCare Center in Chicago. Currently Dr. Yang is the center director of the Family Medicine Center. He also enjoys teaching medical students and informatics.

Tricia Hern, M.D.
Associate Program Director
After completing her Family Medicine Residency at the University of North Carolina in 2001, Dr. Hern returned to Chicago to join the faculty at MacNeal. Prior to assuming her current role as Associate Program Director, she served as the Family Medicine Clerkship Director for the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine for five years. Dr. Hern is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Chicago. Her interests are in the areas of inpatient medicine, health care quality, and residency education.

Director Women's Health Fellowship
Following her residency in Family Medicine and a Faculty Development Fellowship, Dr. Harrison spent five years as the Assistant Director at a family medicine residency program in Minnesota. She joined MacNeal's faculty in 2000 and directs the Women's Health Fellowship. Besides women's health and obstetrics, she has interests in evidence-based medicine, preventive health care, and patient-centered medicine.

Roy Henderson, M.D., M.P.H.
Director Sports Medicine Fellowship
After completing his residency, Dr. Henderson joined a private group practice in Visalia, California, providing a broad spectrum of care, including obstetrics. He left private practice after two years to pursue his interest in sports medicine and completed a one-year fellowship in primary care sports medicine in Dayton, Ohio. This fellowship experience sparked an interest in residency education, prompting Dr. Henderson to complete a two-year fellowship in faculty development in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During his time in Pittsburgh Dr. Henderson also received a Masters degree in Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh. He then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to become director of the family medicine residency there. After three years he returned to private practice in Las Vegas. A year later Dr. Henderson came to the MacNeal Family Medicine Residency as the sports medicine fellowship director.

Yvonne T. Murphy, M.

Dr. Murphy completed a two-year fellowship after residency studying family therapy and primary care counseling, teaching skills, evidence-based medicine, and health behavior change while also working as a preceptor and physician at a Family Medicine residency program.
"I enjoy the challenge, fun, and education of working with residents. I try to be self-evaluative as much as possible in my approach to patient care and teaching and to teach others how to use this skill themselves to become life-long learners. I love my palm pilot and finding new, useful programs to assist me in patient care and teaching. I'm also interested in designing a behavioral science curriculum that helps residents become the kind of doctors and people that they strive to be."

Catherine Anichini, M.D.

Following her residency in family medicine, Dr. Anichini fulfilled an Illinois Department of Public Health Scholarship obligation by working at a community health center in Oak Park for five years where she was also clinical faculty with her residency program. She continued her faculty position at the main residency site for three more years before joining the faculty at MacNeal.

Karin Patterson, D.O.

Mary Talen, Ph.D.
Director of Behavioral Health Science
Mary R. Talen, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist and the Director of Behavioral Health Science. She graduated with her masters and doctoral degree from Columbia University and she is certified in Family Therapy from Philadelphia Child Guidance Center. Dr. Talen has focused her research, teaching and clinical practice in systems-based family oriented healthcare. She has taught family medicine residents, medical students, family nurse practitioners and doctoral clinical psychology students in behavioral health and multiprofessional healthcare. She has published and presented at international conferences in primary care psychology and integrative behavioral health. Her current research projects are in biopsychosocial well child check-ups; coaching patients on how to communicate with their doctors; and group medical visits.

After his Family Medicine residency Dr. Ralston spent one year traveling and working across the country as a locum tenens physician. He completed the Sports Medicine Fellowship at MacNeal in 1995 and uses this extra training in his practice and family medicine teaching.
