BENEFITS AND SALARY INFORMATION 2008-2009SALARIES: Paid bi-monthly on Friday. Direct Deposit available. First year residents: $45,711.60 Second year residents: $47,278.40 Third year residents: $49,350.00 Fourth year resident $51,355.20
EDUCATIONAL STIPENDS: May be used for books, conferences (including travel), and Palm Pilots. Additional funds are available to sponsor residents presenting at conferences, at the Program Director's discretion.
First year residents: $ 500.00 Second year residents: $1,000.00 Third year residents: $1,000.00 Fourth year resident $2,000.00
MEMBERSHIP DUES: MacNeal pays for resident membership dues for the AAFP and IAFP.
PAID TIME OFFA. Vacation Days Residents are allowed 15 vacation days per year. New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day are additional vacation days, as permitted by the call schedule. B. Educational Days To be submitted for approval by the Program Director, as with other days off: First year resident: 2 days Second year resident: 4 days Third year resident: 5 days Fourth year resident 5 days C. Sick Days Five sick days are allowed per academic year. D. Leave of Absence FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) is offered. Leave without pay for medical reasons, including maternity, is subject to hospital policy. All leaves of absences may require an extension of the resident’s training, in accordance with the rules of the American Board of Family Practice.
CHILD CARE: MacNeal has been investigating different options to provide childcare to their employees. Although on-site childcare is not yet available, this issue remains an active goal of the hospital’s administration. Residents and other employees will be informed, as further information becomes available. PARKING: Covered parking is offered for residents at no charge. The parking lot is linked by tunnel to the hospital and Family Practice Center.
DEPENDENT CARE REIMBURSEMENT ACCOUNT: Pre-tax dollars can be put aside for dependent child or elder care. LOCAL YMCA DISCOUNT: The Berwyn YMCA offers a 20% discount on membership.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP): Confidential counseling and assistance is available for any reason through the hospital’s Employee Assistance Program. Residents may also choose to pursue mental health needs through their HMO coverage either instead of, or in addition to, the EAP.
INSURANCE AND DISABILITY COVERAGE A. Medical Insurance The MacNeal Health Plan and Blue Cross Blue Shield HMOI are comprehensive major medical plans offered to residents and eligible dependents. Both plans include a vision and pharmacy benefit. This is explained further during orientation. B. Dental InsuranceFirst Commonwealth PPO and DMO are provided by the hospital to residents and eligible dependents. C. Life Insurance Group Term Life Insurance through the American College of Physician's package with benefit of $100,000 and an accidental death and dismemberment benefit of $100,000 is available at no cost immediately upon employment. Conversion of the policy is available upon completion of the residency program. D. Long Term Disability Income Protection of income through the American College of Physician’s insurance coverage shall be provided by MacNeal Hospital and will become effective the first of the month following six months of participation in the residency program. Benefits begin after 60 calendar days of disability and may be converted to an individual policy upon completion of the residency program. E. Malpractice and General Liability InsuranceResidents will be included in the malpractice coverage provided by the hospital for all professional activities directed by the hospital. F. Worker’s Compensation The residents are covered by the same rules that apply to all MacNeal employees.
