Medical School: Ohio State University

Joe enjoys running, skiing, and skeet shooting. He is also especially proud of his antique wooden spoon collection. "I feel that MacNeal will prepare me for any type of practice that I may choose to enter after graduation."

"MacNeal’s Family Medicine program provides great exposure to multifaceted patient care and friendly interaction with both subspecialty and other primary care physicians. Also, the Family Medicine Center is conveniently located across the street from the hospital."

Carla enjoys keeping everyone around her on their toes in addition to participating in many sporting activities. "I loved my internship at MacNeal."

Eric Hoeper

Medical School: University of Missouri

Eric is originally from Columbia, Missouri but currently enjoys living in Chicago. Eric enjoys playing golf, being outdoors, and watching baseball. "I feel that I have made an excellent choice in coming to Chicago and more importantly MacNeal hospital. MacNeal has provided excellent resources and opportunities to gain the best education possible."

"I enjoy playing volleyball and basketball in my spare time. I am very happy with MacNeal. The residents are very bright and make for a very strong residency program. The opportunity to do whatever one wishes with their FP career is available. I am very happy with my decision to come to MacNeal. Again, the residents are fantastic and fun to be around."

Brian Oostman

Medical School: Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine

Brian grew up and spent most of his life in Chicago’s south suburbs. He is a lifelong cubs fan who enjoys spending free time lifting weights and watching baseball. Brian is very interested in Sports Medicine and plans on doing a fellowship after graduation. "Although I’m interested in a Sports Medicine fellowship, it is important to me to become a well-rounded primary care physician."

"I enjoy living downtown in Lincoln Park, eating out at great Chicago restaurants, and shopping in the city. I also love to run on the lake, play tennis, travel, and play football with my fellow MacNeal colleagues. MacNeal has gone beyond my expectations both personally and academically. I have made friendships between both residents and faculty that will go beyond my residency years."

Lisa enjoys outdoor activities such as running, biking, and water-skiing. Although she loves the city of Chicago for its theater, culture, and restaurants, Lisa and her husband also enjoy travelling. "MacNeal is a great place to train for Family Medicine – the faculty is exceptional, the patient population is diverse, and the specialists are available and eager to teach. MacNeal offers the perfect mix of urban and suburban patient populations."

"I enjoy working with my patients and colleagues at the MacNeal Family Medicine Residency. I look forward to more challenging and fulfilling work as I prepare for my future as a family practitioner. I am especially interested in women’s health, pediatrics, and preventative medicine. I like going to movies and fine restaurants. I love music, singing, playing the harp, reading, biking, canoeing, Scotland, and chocolate."

"I was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, but what drew me to MacNeal was its broad, diverse patient population and the great learning environment. I felt confident that I would see a variety of medical problems that would help train me as a well-rounded Family Physician. Chicago is a great place, and although residency has been busy, I still have been able to involve myself with things that are important to me – church and friends."
