After going to school on the East Coast for the past 10 years, I was excited to return to Chicago. I was drawn to MacNeal for the outstanding residents, dedicated faculty, and diverse patient population. There is a clear balance between resident well being and strong academic standards here at MacNeal.

In my free time I like to take part in everything Chicago has to offer- from taking in a Cubs game at Wrigley Field, to running through Lincoln Park, to catching a concert at one of Chicago's many venues. MacNeal truly is a wonderful place to train.

I initially sought out a Family Medicine program in the Chicago area to remain near my family.  MacNeal allowed me this opportunity as well as provided me a strong training program and a great group of co-residents.

When I was looking at residency programs, I was interested in one that provided a varied patient population and a happy, cohesive group of residents. MacNeal was my first interview and I didn't need to look any further to find all these things. When I'm not working, I enjoy doing a variety of totally non-medicine related activities such as camping, hiking, reading novels, seeing movies, or just going for walks. I love my job but I also love having a personal life and it's important for me to have a good balance between the two.

I love living in Chicago and have been able to take advantage of many of the cultural and athletic events the city has to offer. I enjoy rollerblading by the lake, playing beach volleyball, and spending time with family and friends. Balance is very important to me, and I feel I've been able to find that at MacNeal - it blends a strong academic program with a supportive, friendly atmosphere.

Growing up in the Chicago land area, I knew that I wanted to stay here close to family and friends. After doing a rotation at MacNeal as a 4th year medical student, I was hooked. It had such a cohesive group of residents, supportive and approachable faculty, and diverse patient population. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here, and I know the training I have received will carry me far in life.

Though residency keeps me very busy, I still find time to do the things that are important to me like spending time with my husband, running and keeping in touch with friends. For me, MacNeal offers the best of both worlds - a challenging, stimulating program balanced by a very supportive and nurturing environment.

When I was looking for a residency program, a strong education, a diverse patient population and residents who were not just colleagues but also friends, were among the top things on my list. I have found all of these at MacNeal. This residency program has given me a sound foundation in Family Medicine through didactics, opportunities to work with specialists, and a wide variety of patients both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Outside of medicine, I enjoy photography, swimming, and hiking. I feel it is important to maintain outside interests during the residency years and have been able to do so here at MacNeal.

MacNeal was my first choice of residency programs because of the supportive residents and faculty, as well as the strong education in all the fields of Family Medicine. I am confident that upon graduating from MacNeal, I will be a knowledgeable and compassionate family physician.

MacNeal has many things to offer: excellent reputation, patient population is diverse, faculty is very supportive and enthusiastic to teach, and the residents all get along. For these reasons, I chose MacNeal for my residency, and I don't regret it at all.
