Residency is a critical time for family physicians. We only have a short time to gain a solid foundation in several aspects of medicine. That's why I came to MacNeal. The teaching and hands-on learning at MacNeal is excellent. The faculty are committed to making sure each resident is intellectually and emotionally prepared for the challenges of modern family medicine. My fellow residents are compassionate and intelligent, and I love working with them every day. My interests in Family Medicine include obstetrics, adolescent medicine, preventative healthcare, and providing access to healthcare for the Deaf Community. Outside of MacNeal, I like to be outdoors, to bike and to sail. My husband and I love to travel, cook, and go to the movies and to baseball games. Go Cubs!

I chose the Family Medicine Residency Program at MacNeal for a variety of reasons: the outstanding reputation, camaraderie among residents, excellent teaching experience, and the top-notch faculty who really take an interest in the residents and teaching. The location right outside of downtown Chicago makes it very convenient to live in the city and enjoy all that Chicago has to offer, including diverse nightlife, amazing restaurants, comedy clubs and concerts. Having my family and an extensive network of friends nearby helped make my decision to come to MacNeal the perfect one. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, badminton, going to the gym and living it up in the city. I am very interested in integrative medicine.

I like MacNeal because of its diversity - both in patient population as well as residents and faculty. Our attending physicians are encouraging and supportive of the residents. The residents help out one another, and work very well as a cohesive team. I am glad to have chosen MacNeal to train for Family Medicine. My other interests include: movies, restaurants, reading, volleyball, tennis, racquetball, traveling, and cooking.

I grew up in the northern suburbs of Chicago, spent my undergrad years at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and then returned to Chicago for medical school. I chose the Family Medicine residency program here at MacNeal first and foremost because of the quality and camaraderie among the residents. The faculty is also wonderful and very supportive of residents. In my free time, I like watching cartoons, collecting tech gadgets, and going on road trips.

I chose MacNeal mostly on gut instinct and have discovered a wonderful group of residents to work (and play!) with. I like being in a community hospital where our faculty and specialists are accessible and approachable, and I am impressed with the strong academic base. I also love that my Spanish improves every day! My husband and I live in the Wicker Park/Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago and really enjoy taking advantage of all that this fabulous city has to offer. Aside from exploring the city, I enjoy running, doing yoga, cooking (as well as eating!), and maintaining an interest in West African culture.

In addition to a strong program with a diverse patient population, I was looking for a residency program that felt like a family, where the residents really enjoyed being around one another outside of the hospital. I wanted my program to be a source of social as well as professional support. I found that at MacNeal. My medical interests include women's health and adolescent health. I am married with one child and, outside of work, enjoy camping, hiking, and rock climbing.

When selecting a Family Medicine residency, I was particularly interested in programs that would provide a significant exposure to sports medicine. Although I interviewed at many programs around the country that fit this script, the close-knit relationship the residents here have with each other and the approachable faculty stood out at MacNeal.
Part of my interest in sports medicine comes from the fact that I have always been obsessed with baseball. I also spend some of my free time taking advantage of the live music Chicago has to offer. Some of my other interests include playing guitar, writing, movies, and books.

forefront of medicine, and
most importantly, the great group of

I came to MacNeal's program after spending my internship year out of state. I returned to Chicago (where I had lived for over ten years before leaving) to complete my residency here. For me, MacNeal is a good fit as a community-based program with the benefits of a more urban and academic culture. Plus, the residents and faculty who are warm and bright have helped me to quickly feel at home here after my recent transition. I have a background in research and medical social work and chose family medicine because it lends itself easily to a holistic view of the patient and their environment. I love women's health and integrative medicine and hope to develop a future practice that emphasizes these areas. I live in the city and love to listen to live music, eat Mexican food (my favorite) and ride my bike along the lakefront. I also really love a special blue-eyed cat named Henry!
