I was so happy to find my home at MacNeal. The program is dedicated to resident teaching, provides great diversity of patients and clinical experiences, although intense it allows you to develop your sense of yourself as a physician. The faculty and specialists alike have been very welcoming and treat you as a colleague. The close proximity to Chicago was also a deciding factor and I have enjoyed my various outings there. My other interests include reading, experimenting with new recipes, movies and running.

MacNeal was one of my first interviews and it left a lasting impression by which I compared all other interviews. I love the community hospital feel, that family medicine is the only primary residency in the hospital and that it is a rigorous program that will lead me to become a very well trained physician. Also, the faculty and residents are all very well accomplished as physicians as well as excellent people.
Another huge draw is obviously the city of Chicago with its infinite possibilities. Coming from small towns in Ohio, my wife and I are enjoying all the new restaurants, interesting sites and sporting activities this city has to offer. Outside of medicine I enjoy reading, relaxing with family and friends as well as anything outdoors including fly fishing, soccer, tennis, running and biking.

I grew up in Kenosha, WI and went to the University of Chicago for my undergraduate years. Interested in pursuing epidemiology in my career as a physician, I received a Masters in Population Health before entering medical school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Looking to join my husband in Chicago, I began searching for strong family medicine programs in the city and stumbled across MacNeal-- I did a fourth year rotation here and absolutely loved it.
At MacNeal you will find excellent faculty and staff who are dedicated to resident training in a community hospital near the city. You will also find friendly residents who make coming to work everyday enjoyable. Outside of residency, I like spending time with family and friends, reading books, and singing.

I've known I wanted to be a family doctor for as long as I can remember, so when it came to choosing a residency program, I was pretty picky. I was attracted to MacNeal for many reasons. I feel it's one of the most well balanced programs I visited, strong in just about every area. The committed faculty, caring residents, affiliation with the University of Chicago, diverse patient population, and unopposed structure are clear strengths. Furthermore, I enjoy the community this hospital serves, the chance to improve my Spanish, and the opportunity to interact with adolescents. Plus, MacNeal's close proximity to the world's greatest city (Chicago!) doesn't hurt either! I love spending time with my husband, family, and friends in this amazing city I call home.

As a Chicago native, I knew I wanted to train in the area, and I found that among the many programs in the Chicago land area, MacNeal was the best for me. MacNeal has an outstanding reputation for being of the strongest programs in family medicine, and now as a resident here, I can see why. The faculty here is extremely knowledgeable and supportive of all the residents. Both the faculty and specialists are always willing to stop and teach. I also like the fact that we have a large class and still have great camaraderie among all the residents. The location just outside the city is great. I live in Lakeview and in my spare time, I hang out with my family, friends, and enjoy running, watching movies and going out downtown.

I grew up in Chicago and staying here just seemed to make the most sense after spending both high school and college in the windy city. I chose MacNeal because of the great atmosphere for learning. The diverse population allows the residents to learn about disease processes from both a medical and cultural stance. The faculty is very supportive and dedicated to teaching. The friendly residents provide for a comfortable learning environment that fosters teamwork and encourages individual growth at the same time. Outside of the hospital, I enjoy spending time with my husband and friends and traveling. One of my many goals is to learn to speak Spanish fluent enough to benefit my patient care.

After starting a career in engineering and switching to medicine, I knew that I wanted to be more hands on and involved with people. Family practice provided me with sense of satisfaction. I enjoy taking care of the entire family, all ages, and all stages. I had known I wanted to stay in the Chicagoland area and of all the programs in Chicago, I knew that MacNeal would provide me with a comprehensive curriculum and experience. I also found the staff to be helpful and encouraging. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and reading novels unrelated to medicine.

As a medical student, my very first clinical rotation was here at MacNeal. The attendings and residents were all very encouraging, friendly, and were keenly focused on education, as well as patient care. My first impression of MacNeal stuck with me and played a major role in choosing it for my training in family medicine. Now I am enjoying working with the same attendings I met as a student, and caring for people of all ages in this diverse community. I also enjoy MacNeal's location in a suburban setting, minutes away from all the fun of downtown Chicago. Recently married, I enjoy spending time with my husband, as well as my sisters and the rest of our family.

I was born in Montreal, grew up in Toronto, and I am extremely happy to call Chicago my new home. I chose MacNeal mainly due to the fact that both the residents and faculty are extremely supportive of the new interns. Besides that, the program is very strong academically and has a university affiliation. Our patient population is diverse, which provides us with an excellent learning experience. MacNeal is also in close proximity to downtown Chicago. This allows residents to live in the city and experience all that Chicago has to offer. In my spare time I like to play tennis, play basketball, watch movies, watch too much sports and work out.

As the oldest Family Medicine residency program in Chicago, MacNeal has a distinguished legacy at providing residents and fellows the ability to gain a variety of experiences in fields ranging from community medicine to the ICU. I completed my medical degree at Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine, where I learned the importance of caring for the underserved. My interests include global health, medical ethics, and underserved medicine. I hope to someday pursue my Masters in Public Health and incorporate International medical service in my future career.

I chose the family medicine residency program at MacNeal because of the accessible faculty and tremendous academics. The program prepares you on a professional level and also makes you feel like you're part of a family. I enjoy going to movies, playing tennis, walking in the city, and going with my husband to baseball games.
